Partnering in the IS Operation Rating Tool Pilot Trials

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the next progression of the IS rating tool. Take up of the Design and As-Built rating elements of the IS tool has been strong. The final stage in the development of the Operation Rating component of the IS Tool is for it to be rigorously trialled on a range of operating infrastructure assets in partnership with industry.

IS Tool - New Themes

AGIC intends to add to the current IS rating tool the two additional sustainability themes of Economic Performance and Workforce. Therefore, we are now seeking sponsorship to support the research, development and trialling of these Themes.

Councils Trial the IS Tool

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) and AGIC have partnered to identify how the IS rating tool can be used for local council operation and maintenance programmes. The first stage of this work is to explore the tool applicability for road operations and maintenance programmes. For many local councils, roads are their largest asset class, and road maintenance is their largest operational activity. Significantly, 84% of all roads (by length) are maintained by Australia’s 560 local councils. Their total value exceeds $300bn. So, cumulatively, even small improvements in the sustainability of council road maintenance programmes can result in enormous benefits.
